EDHEC Speaker Series: Carbon Pricing

In early 2022, EDHEC Business School launched the monthly online speaker series, 'The Future of Finance,' designed to explore the latest developments in the financial industry and discuss how finance can address critical economic and societal challenges.

The EDHEC Speaker Series “The Future of Finance”, has garnered an inclusive audience of students, researchers, and finance professionals.

Bob Litterman, Kepos Capital

On February 27, 2024, EDHEC Business School will host Robert Litterman, the co-developer of the Black-Litterman Global Asset Allocation Model, a key tool in investment management, who will deliver a talk on Carbon Pricing.

As a founding partner of Kepos Capital and former head of risk management at Goldman Sachs, he is recognized for his pioneering work in quantitative finance and sustainable investing. Litterman's insights promise to offer valuable perspectives on the role of carbon pricing in addressing climate change and its implications for financial markets and policy.

Carbon pricing has a pivotal role in addressing carbon emissions and climate change, and accurately pricing it is intimately linked to risk management. Additionally, Bob will introduce carbon-linked bonds, exploring how this financial instrument allows governments to signal their carbon pricing intentions and provides motivation for governments to act on their climate commitments.

Litterman's expertise underscores the urgency and complexity of integrating carbon pricing into the broader climate action agenda, offering invaluable guidance for policymakers, investors, and environmental advocates alike.

The session will be moderated by Riccardo Rebonato, Scientific Director of EDHEC-Risk Climate Impact Institute and Professor of Finance at EDHEC Business School and Emmanuel Jurczenko, Director of Graduate Finance Programmes at EDHEC Business School
