The Green Assets research programme aims to quantify the climate-related risk for different types of assets (infrastructure, real estate and listed companies) for investors worldwide. It leverages science-based metrics to assess sustainability risks and impacts, empowering clients to report and benchmark investments effectively.
The Green Assets Project is a research initiative by the EDHEC Climate Institute, dedicated to developing innovative climate research. It integrates key research pillars—transition risk, physical risk, climate scenarios and climate resilience and decarbonation technologies—alongside interdisciplinary methods such as climate data whether it is climate change numerical simulations or satellite data, spatial data analysis, sentiment analytics as well as macro- and microeconomics, to provide a comprehensive assessment of an investment’s overall climate risk in financial terms.
Each analysis is conducted at the asset level and can be aggregated to provide a comprehensive portfolio view under various climate scenario outlooks, with adjustments for resilience measures. This robust and granular approach has been applied to infrastructure assets and is being expanded to encompass different asset classes such as real estate and listed companies.
The EDHEC Climate Institute gratefully acknowledges the support that the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has provided to its green infrastructure research.
