Gianfranco Gianfrate, Associate Professor of finance at EDHEC Business School, leads a research programme on the financing of climate transition within the EDHEC-Risk Institute. He has recently been appointed Director of GRASFI, the Global Research Alliance on Sustainable Finance and Investments. In the interview below, Gianfranco Gianfrate showcases EDHEC Sustainable Finance thought leadership throughout the research, the teaching and the initiatives that he is involved in.
He also underlines the complementarity between Finance and Sustainability.
"Finance and sustainability need to work together. This is a two way process. On the one hand, finance needs to recognise the risks associated to sustainability and needs to incorporate those risks in the investment process and in portfolio allocation. On the other end, finance can help sustainability by channeling, for example, capital towards public and private investments that can address the climate change challenge." explains Gianfranco.
